Dynamic modeling and vibration analysis of a cracked 3K-II planetary gear set for fault detection

Abstract. The 3K planetary gear system is a basic transmission structure with many advantages over the 2K-H system. However, vibration characteristics will be more complicated due to increase of central gears meshing each planet simultaneously. In this paper, lumped-parameter model for 3K-II set was developed simulate dynamic response. time-varying stiffness pair different tooth root crack faults calculated via finite element method. By considering effect paths, transverse synthetic vibrations are obtained. Subsequently, feasibilities signals and output torsional as reference fault diagnosis analyzed by studying time-domain frequency-domain these two signals. results indicate that both can used identification localization train, yet they have their limitations.
